The Dude Ranch is a crucial institution for the local scene. Local music scenes all over canada could use something like this to boost the appeal of great music. The mainstream media has always portrayed ponx music in a terrible light. So much so as that peoples opinion became preconceptive and negative without even giving it a chance in order to actually form their OWN opinions. Now it is being bastardized and manipulated as a way to sell trivial costumes to encourageable teenagers. The genre itself is being watered down and changed to include mass-marketed scheme rockers and money making fluff.
The Dude Ranch brings together great people, great bands and positive open minded ideologies in the same vain as ponx did for alot of people in its prime. Its just a shame there arent more people willing to do something like this.
On that note, Junior Battles, Stay Home, Bet Your Life and Chris Cresswell were amazing this weekend and I am looking forward to what The Dude Ranch has in-store for us in the future. Happy 40th band anniversary guys.
